Parents of children with special needs can find it exhausting when their child has a behavioral “melt-down” in a public place, especially when they are approached by a stranger who seems critical of their parenting and gives uninformed advice. In this kind of a situation, some parents have found it helpful to hand the person a brief, printed message instead of trying to talk with, or even ignore, the person.
